Alternate duel ending - What was supposed to happen in it ect...

As a huge fan of this greatly underrated masterpiece, i was always interested in finding more details about original 210 minutes long rough cut of the movie and deleted scenes from it. But most of all i always wanted to see second ending that was filmed, but never finished. I'm talking about duel between Glaeken and Molasar that took place at roof of the keep. I heard that originally there was supposed to be some kind of blue light appearing between them in the middle of the fight which would pull both them into some kind of abyss where two of them would be flying around much like Glaeken in extended TV version of theatrical ending.

I'm curious, what exactly was supposed to happen in this scene? What happened during the fight, was there some dialogue between Glaeken and Molasar, what exactly happened to both of them once they would fall into abyss, how was this ending originally imagined by Michael Mann and crew...

I do have six pictures of this alternate ending which show Glaeken holding Molasar by the throat and two of them flying around some dark place. Here's one picture showing Glaeken and Molasar during the fight;

Anyone can help me out here,go right ahead.

I have a copy of the 1st draft screenplay. The ending, in essence, is actually not very different from what ended up in the film. A bit more dialogue. Glaeken says goodbye to Eva (here Magda as in the book)before he tells her to take her father out of the keep.

Molasar retreats to the top of the keep. Glaeken scales a broken wall and they face off on the tower. Molasar has some words for Glaeken before they "fight" (ie. we are one in the same, kill me you kill yourself, etc.) Glaeken senses Eva's love for him and looks down for a moment. Molasar takes this opportunity to lunge (instead of shooting power from his hands). Glaeken takes the blow but impales Molasar with his pike (instead of shooting him with laser rod).

They both topple down a shaft and crash through the stone floor. Cut to a different chamber they plummet down, crash through that floor. Again cut to them falling down another shaft, this time with rings of light and glowing supernatural stones. Cut to falling "through a cloudy sky over a cracked red desert", before they hit cut to black void of them falling together.

Back to Eva on the bridge, villagers helping Cuza up. A bird starts building a nest up on the keep (referencing a previous deleted bit about birds staying away from the fortress) symbolizing the evil being defeated.

I'm not sure if it REALLY answers your question, because the talisman was still the hilt to a conventional weapon, not a laser. You can't really have a "duel" with a laser...perhaps the metal shaft was originally intended as a melee weapon? Who knows...

This first draft is certainly not the shooting script, as they still had elements from the book that I'm pretty sure were not filmed. Soldier corpses coming back to life to try to take the talisman from Eva, Molasar using telekinesis to make a dying Woermann hang himself, etc.)

Thanks. Some parts of that scene do sound like couple of scenes and dialogue which i heard was used in one of the alternate endings.

Could you also share the other picture in your possession? I am very interested in seeing them.

There is one more picture (which i have but i can't find it on internet) of fight between Glaeken and Molasar which shows Glaeken holding him by throat and from the looks of it, saying something to him.

Here are the pics from "falling into abyss" scene that happened after the fight and after some blue light was supposed to appear between Glaeken and Molasar;

And here are some photos and screen shots from theatrical trailer which could be from one of the alternate endings, maybe even from duel ending;
