I recall at one point there was a detailed article somewhere (wikipedia) about JAWS 3 at the box office, including something to the affect that after so many weeks it was doing better business in some areas that other hits of the year...anyone know what I mean or where I can find it?

Yes, I read it to on Wiki as well.

Who would have thought the information would have disappeared via the Internet?

But yes, suddenly it's all gone!

From I recall, when Jaws 3D was pulled theaters it was 'doing better' than "Return of the Jedi" in 'per screen' average.

Here's the quote:

"The final sequel would attract an even lower income, with around two thirds of Jaws 3-D's total lifetime gross. However, the film was still drawing huge audiences when it was pulled from theaters; film historian R.M. Hayes says this action "was pure nonsense considering some cinemas were actually turning over more money per screen than the latest Star Wars film".
