Honestly I don't think this movie was meant to be taken seriously.

I think it was made to bring together 4 of the old great horror actors: Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, John Carradine, and Vincent Price one last time. Lee is the only actor of the four still living. There are moments in this film that seem as though the actors are pulling our collective leg and inviting us to laugh along with them, e.g. when Victoria is found dead with her throat cut, and one of them (indicating the cause of death) says, "Piano wire." and Vincent Price responds, "He must have heard her singing." as she did earlier in the evening.

I could be a morning person if morning happened at noon.

I totally agree. I've never seen this movie until tonight, and only gave it a go because of these four great actors. Seeing them together was wonderful, and do think they enjoyed being together and seemed to be having a "last hurrah" time and leaving this genre in their respective ways. As a child of the 50's I grew up watching these awesome actors every Friday and Saturday night, and in double features at the movies and drive-ins. I really enjoyed their entrances into the film, again each one being true to themselves and their style. I'm glad I taped it, and ever so often I'll pull it out just to see them all together in the same frame. Nice little surprise at the end.

It's certainly not meant to be taken seriously, especially once you watch it to the conclusion, but it could have and should have been music better considering the talent involved here. 6/10 stars from me.
