And now its trending on moviechat. Coincidence? I think not.
In all honesty, it was pretty okay for an eighties b-movie. The Halloween franchise name is the only thing that stigmatized it.
For some of us, Halloween 3 is something like a religion. It remains the last film in the Halloween franchise I will actually watch as it devolved into an absurd Michael Myers soap opera after John Carpenter stopped having anything to do with their production. Scream Factory came out with a laudable Blu ray a few years ago. The documentary appended to it makes clear how much work and planning goes into making even a bad movie like H3. Many people have great affection for it and for some of us, it is a perennial Halloween favorite. You can delight drunk or stoned friends by reciting the entirety of Dan O'Herlihy's speech that begins "You don't really know much about Halloween..." After surviving the critical and box office drubbing of the film in '82, director Tommy Lee Wallace began to be quite surprised at horror conventions how many people look upon that silly B-movie fondly.

You should have known I wasn't a troll based on our recent discussion on Michael Haneke's Funny Games. The Halloween 3 board is populated mostly by fans like myself who regard the film with affection while not taking it seriously in the least.
