If it was called just 'Season of the Witch' I don't think I'd love it as much as I do today. Some people think it'd be better received. That might be true, but personally I love it just the way it is, title and all!
I agree dude, While I do believe this film probably would've been treated like Carpenter's The Thing,The Fog & Prince of Darkness with just the Season of the Witch title but I personally love it as is. I think it adds to the whole franchises charm that the Michael Myers franchise has that one that just doesn't fit it makes the franchise more special and also elevates the proceeding films a lot.It has helps this franchise by saying this isn't your Friday the 13th franchise. Although I love the Horror genre and want to explore every aspect about it but I don't think I would've even seen this film and love it if it wasn't associated to the Michael Myers franchise so the Halloween 3 title got me to discover this hidden gem amongst the great Halloween films. But I didn't grew to love this film as so many others fans have I loved it on the spot.
WatchItSucka how was it false advertising? They clearly didn't have Michael in the trailer. I'm sure there was some way to read about the plot back in '82. I'm just saying it's a good Halloween themed movie and I'm glad it's part of the series.
Back in 1982 there wasn't much to learn about a plot beforehand, other than from word of mouth (those who saw the film.) Perhaps Siskel and Ebert were around, but how many young people tuned in to watch their show.
Even I was fooled thinking Michael Myers was in it. It wasn't until 1987 that I got to watch the movie. And even then my first reaction was "wtf, where's Michael Myers?"
"I'm a vehemently anti-nuclear, paranoid mess, harbouring a strange obsession with radioactive sheep."
Even on the vhs rental box, they did not have any information that the third one wasn't related to the first two movies... I was fooled back in 83, but I did like the third sequel...
I've never gotten hung up on 'Halloween' being in the title. Frankly, I like the anthology concept and wish it had reached fruition. For what it's worth too, despite being an imperfect film and inferior to the original, it's actually my favorite of the series. I love how creepy it is.
