Dan O'Herlihy in III > Donald Pleasence in II+IV+V+VI

Every Myers franchise fan champions Donald Pleasence's continued appearances in those films. I guess his presence lends them a shred of credibility and class that they don't possess in any other way.

Now don't get me wrong. I love Donald Pleasence in many films and TV shows. But lets face it, he's essentially doing and saying the same thing over and over for four sequels.

IMO. Dan O'Herlihy's Conal Cochran in Season Of The Witch is easily worth all of DP's sequel outings.

He brilliantly conveys a sort of a scheming eighties entrepeneur while embodying a cult leader of ancient celtic traditions at the same time.

The slow handclap salute as his whole plan is blowing up in his face is priceless too.

I can't imagine anyone being much better in that role. Although I suspect Patrick McGoohan may have had a lot of fun with i too.

I agree with you, EXCEPT for on Halloween II - that maybe THE Donald's best performance

I really only watch I and II back to back, and part III as the glimpse into what an anthology would have looked like. 4 gets one Halloween/yearly viewing, but that is about it
