Tom Atkins Method Actor

I watched both Halloween III and the Fog today and it just occurred to me that when Tom Atkins plays Daniel Challis and Nick Castle, is he not just playing John Carpenter?

Drinking, smoking, womanizing and being an Alpha male, his characters remind me a lot of John Carpenter. In Halloween III he even has a mustache.

I also find it interesting that in both films Tom Atkins sleeps with females that are young enough to be his daughters. Interesting characters anyway Tom / John and far more realistic than the pretty boys of Hollywood today.

I really enjoy the scene at the end of the Fog when the horror is all over and the whole cast exit the church and look on with relief, Tom pulls out a cigarette! Now you wouldn't see that in a film made today.
