Was it really necessary ? Maybe I'm just gettin' old but I could do without it. I'd much prefer seeing them head to the bedroom and shutting the lights off or closing the bedroom door, whatever...
I have the same reaction to these scenes as if I had accidently walked into the bathroom on somebody. Totally unnecessary IMHO.

I find the Internet is awesome for slaking that particular thirst. I love it, in fact, and avail myself of it 4-5 times a week.
But it's distracting in feature films.
