why is john candys chair the only one different at the table?

I know it is suppose to be since it is a break away chair and all ..but doesnt it look out of place when everyone has a cushioned orange chair except him ...like its to obvious why its there once you seen the movie...i know i am just picking apart a silly movie but just an observation

I agree, this is one of the many parts of the movie that make no sense. They were too cheap to build a breakaway chair that looked like the others, or just use regular chairs that looked like the breakaway one?

I also hated when that old woman kept telling John Candy he was fat. That part wasn't funny she just looked like a mean old bitch.
