shareThis is one of my favorite slasher movies, too. The cinematography has that distinctly 80's-Canadian-horror-film look. And the score by Paul Zaza (Prom Night, My Bloody Valentine) is perfection. It's a shame this hasn't (and probably won't be) released on DVD.
shareI have been searching for the name of this movie ever since I can remember, I only knew specific scenes but never the name and no one could help me out. I finally came across it and I was seriously jumping for joy. This was the first horror movie I had ever seen. I saw it 5 or 6 years after it's release. I was about 5 or 6 years old and I wasn't allowed to watch it. I was in the room with my parents friends daughter who of course was old enough to watch and I remember my mom scolding me for watching so I sat on the couch under a blanket and watched the movie peaking through the holes of the blanket. I was so terrified. I had nightmares about the witch mask skating at me! and I can always vividly remember the hottub scene of the bikini getting undun and the blouse of the girl getting unbuttoned and no one ever knew what I meant! I've only seen this movie once, of course, but I would give anything to get a copy of this film, I can't find it anywhere! If someone knows of a place or owns a copy I would be so interested :)
Thanks for letting me ramble about my first horror movie!
I found my copy on eBay a couple of years ago. I don't have a way to make a copy for you, or I would.
I wish I knew who owned the rights to CURTAINS. I've emailed Anchor Bay Entertainment several times, begging them to purchase the rights and release a DVD. They've done a great job with other out-of-print titles.
Good luck with your search!
yeah try either www.ebay.com or www.half.com I got my vhs copy from one of those.

yes, i saw this as a young kid as well and the stalking skating scene is still one of the most amazing scenes I've ever seen...
shareI saw this movie at the theater. It was 22 years ago, and I barely remember it. The only scene I can really remember is the ice skating scene, and that memory is even fuzzy. I would love to see it again. I remember it was kind of atmospheric and creepy, and one of the better slasher flicks I went to see. It's a shame the owner of the film won't have it released on DVD.
shareI saw this on Cinemax when I was about ten back in the eightes and it scared the crap out of me. I too remember the ice skating most of all. That mask was great. I'm kind of a nostalgia fan when it comes to these old slasher movies. I have collected just about every one thats been put out on DVD. I hope that eventually this will be released. I am also waiting for Silent Scream with Yvonne Decarlo (anyone remember that one?) That's another one I watched as kid late one Saturday night on Cinemax.

I'm hoping to at least run across old VHS of these movies. I did find someone on ebay a couple months ago selling a Silent Scream DVD. But, it was a bootleg so I passed.

Thanks for the link! I have never seen Final Exam , but have always wanted to. I remember my brother going to the theater to see it. I was a little to young to go with him at the time. That seems to be a movie that was never on cable through the years either. Is it any good? I also agree with you about HBTM. But, for now I guess that's all we get.

Yeah..I never saw saw silent scream at the theater but the poster alone gave me the creeps as an 8 year old. However...the ice skating scene in Curtains was branded in brain and gave me nightmares galore which only makes it a nostalgic classic today that I laugh about. Would love to see that again. That and Fear No Evil...I was like 7 years old and my other siblings (older) and I went to see it. I covered my eyes most of the movie but what I saw made me want to throw up. Many nightmares ensued after that one too. Haha
Fear No Evil is available on DVD. It was released about 2 yrs ago. It was actually filmed where I live in upstate N.Y. A lot of scenes were filmed at my brothers school. He was in 9th grade at the time and watched some of the filming. Anyway thats the only reason I bothered to buy this. It's really not a very good movie.
shareI just recently bought this film on a DVD bootleg on Ebay. It was pretty much just like watching a VHS on DVD, so don't be too worried about buying them. Sometimes, that's what you have to do.
I was glad I did buy it. It was a very good slasher. The ice skating scene is very suspenseful. Some of you are so lucky to have seen this or other classic slashers in theaters. I love slasher movies and this is one of my new favorites. The acting is just so classy and the cast is wonderful. But the characters are pretty thin. I heard that there was much more character stuff, but it was cut for some reason. An example is that the Lesleh Donaldson character was having an affair with her skating coach, etc. I would love to have some of those plot holes filled.
I definatly feel that there are some companies out there who are listening to us. Anchor Bay, Media Blasters, Blue Enderground, and Code Red are here to do just that and they have done it in the past.
It's (probably very temporarily) up on youtube.
Go to [email protected] and ask them to work on the Apu trilogy and Sholay.
I just got it from www.fleshwoundvideo.com, along with 4 other "classics" that haven't been officially released on DVD here yet.
Haven't watched it yet, but I have high hopes for it.
In case you're wondering, the other 4 I got were -
The Mutilator
The Last Shark
Night of the Creeps (includes both versions)
New Year's Evil
