I always thought that scene was really scary, too.

A funny bit of trivia is: The actress in the scene who is the "victim" is Leslah Donaldson, and she couldn't actually skate very well.

So, they brought in a professional Canadian ice skater (some real champ), and she did the faraway, impressive skating moves, and Leslah only did face closeups.

The funny part is, that the SAME ice skater ALSO donned the witch mask, and skated as "the killer" in the scene.

So, in other words, the skater played BOTH the skating victim and her killer in the scene, except for a few face closeups of Lesleh.

If you go to terrortrap.com there is an interview with Lesleh and she said she took ice skating classes and got very good but because of the production delays/troubles, by the time they shot the scene she had forgotten a lot and needed a double.

I am an 80's slasher fan myself and I heard people talking about Curtains on numerous occassions so I watched some of it on this free website. Just for the hell of it I switched my play cursor to see what the movie looked like, and you guessed it I ended up on the ice skate scene. As and adult and seeing this for the very first time it really freaked me out, this is one of the best scenes I've ever seen in a movie.

Agreed. It's an excellent and supremely effective set piece.

I'd seen that scene sometime on youtube I think. I've never seen the film before but I definitely recall seeing that scene, probably on a list of 'best horror kill scenes' or something.

Good scene.
