If the father had come home earlier from his trip...

I mean he called the house and nobody answered. So He goes home to check on his wife and son and finally went up to the house where his car was supposed to be serviced, but by then the dog is dead and he sees his wife and son.

But if he had gotten there earlier would the Father have been killed?

And was Cujo a Boy or a Girl? Because in the beginning it shows a Girl St. Bernard Dog.

It was common more movies and TV shows back then to use female dogs for many or all shots because male dogs have visible genitals. It’s dumb but that’s what they did. Cujo was a male dog but they likely used a female dogs in some shots.
