Before Horner became HORNER I was a huge fan of his and I have to say this is my favourite, yes it better than "Titanic".
I know that it was on the Varese Sarabande label,as I pull it from my 'archives' and gods it still rocks.
I hope this helps in your search.
Cheers

Big time! Aliens. Wolfen. The Clancy thrillers much later. The guy recycles himself so much. These melodies and themes are good, but they're not THAT good. People can't understand how much he cannibalizes himself until they've seen at least a dozen movies he's scored.

Agree with the previous poster, this was before Horner became HORNER. This is one of my top 5 soundtracks of all times. I had it on vinyl sitting next to my Beatles and Paul Young CDs. It was so much better than Titanic.

These days, Horner just eats off of his previous work, its very sad.

The Brainstorm score is very similar to Horner's score for The Perfect Storm. During the final scenes in TPS I kept thinking, Where have I heard this music before? I looked up his other film scores and was like, Oh OK, Brainstorm!

He may recycle but he is still a genius. The music in Glory makes me cry every time!

Nothing's happening so fast!

Personally, I liked JH's score. He did this one year after The Wrath of Khan and within the same year, Krull. I have the 2 disc version of Krull, and to me, it one of Horner's best ever.

ALL composers recycle a lot of their music. Shoot, Hans Zimmer, John Barry, Jerry Goldsmith, even John Williams have used materials from previous works.

Just my opinion.

Yes, it's very much like WOK in areas. I love the Widow of the Web and the Firemares sequence!
