What was in the bed?

There is a scene in THE BEING where Mortimer (Rexx Coltrane) comes home, pulls the sheets back on his bed and there is all of this green slime (like what happened to the people in TROLL 2). Needless to say, the "Being" was under the bed and proceeds to chase him (an actual fairly scary scene), where he finally loses it by jumping across a train track right when a train zips by!

Was that supposed to be his wife or girlfriend (or something)? This movie had more than a few confusing scenes (like the green slime coming out the air vents in the car during the drive-in scene) that had me scratching my head.

"The Being" was that little kid (Michael I think) who was the son of a crazy lady who was looking for him during the movie. It's suggested that your-old-good-friend-radioactive-waste mutated him into "the being"... for some reason.

I suspect that "it" could turn into liquid, because he definitively came into that car via liquid. Martin Landau's character mentions that it's form dissolve on light, so you could kinda say that all those car lights in drive-in allowed it to dissolve into it's liquid state... However, I am probably giving this movie more credit then it has. You could bet they just made that scene as it is and hoped no one would noticed.
