Reason why I watched it...

I never heard of this movie. Apparently a lot of people grew up on this film, loved it when they were young and still do to this day, which I can always respect as I have the same nastalgic feeling for hundreds of older movies.

I just stumbled on the movie while searching for flicks filmed where I live. I couldn't believe I never knew about this movie, especially the fact that the juvenile detention center is 4 minutes from where I live! I recognize all the exterior shots of it, only wondering if in fact the interiors were actually filmed there. They very possibly could NOT have been filmed at the same location, which is the St Charles Juvenile Detention Center on rt 38. That would make it a little less exciting, but still. It's funny because when I moved here in '94 when I was real young, for years I was scared s h i t l e s s of this place! There was even signs all around it saying "Dont pick up hitch hikers".

I just finished the movie, and if I saw this when I was young I probably would have been even more scared of the place lol. But would have been even more intrigued as I grew up. I can't believe I never heard about the movie, or any movie being filmed there. I always get giddy knowing a film was shot near my hometown, probably because it's such a rarity.
