Yeh that was a good scene. RC cola was used for that scene. Royal Crown cola is no longer being made if I'm not mistaken. It was also the soda pop used in The Green Mile movie, where the guards put crushed up pills in the cup of it, that they give to Wild Bill. Here in Boston we call it "tonic" by the way, but I digress.

Well, now, the machine is an RC machine, but the cans say "Yummy Cola".

reply

Yeah, it's funny; RC must have paid for the product placement, but when it came to actually using the soda to bash somebody's face in, they said, "Our name on the machine's OK, but let's make up something for that."

reply

You'te mistaken. They still make RC Cola.

reply

Royal Crown Cola is Sam's Choice, the soda you find at Walmart.

reply

I always think of the early line in Taxi Driver when the porno theater cashier tells Travis that "Royal Crown cola is all we got." As bad as RC is considered, they had to use and even lower soda for the beatdown scene, as it looked like something you'd find in a dollar store.

RC Edge wasn't bad, though.

i didnt mean everbody knows WHAT KIND OF POP WAS USED! i meant that everybody knows the movie because how cool that scene was. the fact he uses pop cans in a pillow case to kick butt in a correctional facility!

R C Cola? I've been drinking it since I was a kid, before "Bad Boys" was made. I just bought a bottle with my lunch the other day. Its never ceased to exist, as far as I know.

Oh yea, the scene. You are right about that. Everyone can identify this movie from that particular scene. Its up there with the Baseball Furries fight in "The Warriors".

i have a friend who went to see this in the theater with his brother. after the film his brother made this comment " i bet those guys were sorry they tried to steal O'Briens Soda's", lol

Anybody remember the All In The Family scene where Archie Bunker bet Mike that he couldn't tell the difference between Coke, Pepsi and RC? Classic tv for sure.

I live in an area where you only mix cola drinks with Coke and Pepsi. How does RC rate with a shot or two of rum or Jack?

I wonder if the the film "Scum" was an influence. Also in a young offender's home, where Ray Winstone uses snooker balls in a sock.
