I didn't like anything I saw in those clips. Not surprising really, as I wasn't expecting much in the first place. That mothership looks like crap for a start. I hate it when they redesign something that didn't need much alteration in the first place.
So now Diana/Anna is their leader? That scraps another aspect of V's theme about power. One of the aspects of the Diana character which made her interesting was her lust for power, without anyone above her in rank, she can do as she pleases now.
How does that improve her character? Her speech in the first clip was so bland and lackluster. It just didn't have that seductive, alluring and shade of malevolence that Jane Badler's voice possessed.
Also the Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who’s got problems. Hmm, a mother and son fighting against an unstoppable enemy, now where have I seen that before?
Heartbreaking, but it only confirms my opinion that people today can't make good television anymore, or they cancel the good ones like T:TSCC. I pray it gets better like battlestar did.
Actually IMHO it looks like they combined Julie and Mike to make Erika (the FBI agent), and combined John and Diana to make Anna.
I'm willing to give it a chance, but the original "V" will always hold a place in my heart.
People appear to be slating this remake based on two and a half minutes of footage on YouTube. Give it a chance. It is bound to be different from the original as it is not only a remake but a re-imagining too. I for one am glad to see certain things missing. The stupid sunglasses, almost nazi-like logo and the distorted voices of the visitors all really annoyed me first time round. I feel that this new take on the V franchise may just surprise quite a few people. Don't judge it until you have seen the finished product, thats all i'm saying...and even in it turns out to be a complete pile if sh*t at least the original is still available on DVD to be enjoyed.
shareI don't care what anyone else thinks. Those clips looked awesome. Don't get me wrong "V" was one of my favorite miniseries of all time (both). When I first heard about the remake I was like, "Oh No. Here we go again." But after seeing those clips I can't wait to see this.
Someone even complained about the way the new ship looked, which while not mind blowing was not bad. If you are going to judge a series based on something like that then go rent "Independence Day."
To me good Scifi is more than just effects, it's about good storytelling too. And the casting couldn't be more perfect. Even though they got that annoying chick from "Lost" and Monica B seriously needs to grow her hair back.
True, you can't judge an entire series based on 2 short clips. But I for one am very intrigued by it's potential.

The original's outfits were laughably bad. Very heavy handed fascist tones.

I'm guessing the Visitors will morph between human and reptilian form in this one. As good as the original was, it's kind of hard to take the fake skin seriously.

lol of course the visitors uniforms had a heavy handed faciist look, they were a facist regime. That was the point, though they claimed to come in peace and the obvious was clearly visible, the majority still wanted to believe in their promise of tech and scientific gifts.
The whole point of the original series was to show what happened before can happen again if we are not on the look out for it.
No, NO, NO!!
OMG that first video is SOOOO LAME! I'd be heavily intimidated by seeing that giant face on the underside of a UFO!
And to me, that actress is typecast as the main Ori villain in Stargate SG-1. I will forever think of her as the Queen of the Ori and nothing else, frankly.
