Salaries

I don't know how much Kate (or the rest) earned on SMK, but I can make a fairly-educated guess, based on someone else's from the same time period.

I've read that Stephanie Zimbalist was paid $20,000 per episode during the first season "Remington Steele" (which debuted on NBC a year prior to SMK). Given their respective resumes, I would guess Kate was getting paid at least twice that amount at the start -- $40,000 per episode, or more. While Stephanie Zimbalist was not a complete unknown, it was her first lead-role in a series (she had a supporting role in short-lived drama, starring her father), where as Kate Jackson had been the star of one of the biggest t.v. shows, and cultural phenomenons, of the 1970s. (let alone her prior work on "The Rookies"). Her presence/name recognition practically guaranteed CBS a hit, as long as they scheduled SMK in a decent time slot (which they did).

Bruce Boxleitner had a pretty similar resume to Stephanie Zimbalists' -- perhaps a bit more cache due the lead role in a short-lived CBS series, "Bring 'Em Back Alive", the season prior to SMK. So, I'd guess he started somewhere in the $25,000 per episode neighborhood. ???? (Of course, both actors' salaries went up in subsequent seasons, but by how much, I have no idea). Again, these are just guesses...hopefully someone else out can answer your question.
