Over at tvshowsondvd.com the show is ranked 14th in the unreleased rank. All most in the top 10 list and when shows get in this top 10 list they do come out on DVD. So if you have not vote for SMK yet at the above site then get your butt over there and vote.
They don't like us over at that site. They thought we were cheating at one time, so I'm not sure it'll make a difference or not. But I'm trying believe me I'm trying to push the voting thing. We'll see..... However, I think it could hit number one at that site and TPTB at Warner Bros. still wouldn't release it on DVD!
For the life of me, I cannot understand why this show isn't on DVD yet. I understand why some shows, such as China Beach or WKRP in Cincinnati -- which featured a ton of popular music -- have not been released on DVD yet (and may never be). Getting clearances to all the songs is cost-prohibitive, and replacing much of the music with some kind of generic muzak (as That '70s Show did) is time-intensive, and has a cost of its own (someone has to compose & record the generic muzak).
With SMK there are relatively few music clearances to secure. I can't recall any popular music (rock/pop songs) being used off the top of my head, but if there was, it was only a couple of songs. Most of the music we heard was instrumental stuff played at formal receptions/parties and what not -- which can't be that expensive or could very easily be replaced something less expensive.
Meanwhile, it seems like *every* other '80s show that enjoyed the same level of popularity as SMK (or even less!), or ran for about the same number of seasons, has made it to DVD. I just don't get it.....this isn't some obscure little show with long-forgotten stars/leads. Kate Jackson was part of the one of the biggest t.v./cultural phenomenons ever to ever hit this country.

Which site are you talking about? Cuz I can never find a list with our ranking on it anywhere. I wish we could. But I seriously don't think they go by ranking anyway, because they've released some recently that I've never heard of and you can bet they probably weren't ranked up at the top. There's no way they could have been.
But I'm with ele. I'd love to see a link to the site.
I do that and all I get is this: Scarecrow and Mrs. King (1983)

No Ranking that I can see. What am I doing wrong (I suppose, like Amanda in "Class Act" -- almost eveything).
You need to be logged in to see the rank. I just tried to see it and couldn't until I logged in. Hope you can see it. We are still holding at 12th place with 3478 votes.

Unfortunately I don't think it's going to matter how high SMK gets in the rankings. With some of the crap that's been put out on DVD lately you have to wonder how the shows are picked.
I would love if SMK came out on DVD. I'm on the email list on Amazon, so the day they announce that they'll be releasing it I will get an email. If you go to amazon.com and type in scarecrow and mrs. king in the search bar the first link should be the one that asks if you want to sign up to receive an email when it becomes available.

not to be a spoil-sport - or whatever it is called - but I heard they can't bring the show out on DVD. Something about the "source-material" being too bad or something. When i went to the Collectormania in Milton Keynes/UK this year I had a chance to talk to Bruce Boxleitner about it, and he said, that the show won't come out, mentioning the technical problems. He is sad about that too.
Not doubting you, Eve, but I hope this turns out not to be the case. Surely in this day and age, any technical problems could be ironed out. I wonder if it's just a convenient excuse, to cover up something else. Still, I live in hope!
Speaking for myself, I will be happy to have all 88 complete episodes even if they are not crystal clear...so I hope that they release whatever they have on DVD.

I'm tired of waiting. I have the whole series perfect quality in SP from off CBS and I'll just transfer my tapes to DVD. Instead of waiting I would suggest that you all do the same thing.
