Did Mama ever annoy you?
Did Mama ever do or say something that annoyed you? For some reason I was annoyed by the callous way she gushed over the Harper's being natural redheads and her dismissal of Vint because he wasn't.

No but the family did. They were ingrates. When Mama almost died, and turned a new leaf to be more giving, they really took advantage of her, instead of following her example. Gimme, gimme was their motto.

Not in today's world in today's economy. You make a child in today's world in today's economy and you don't expect to rear that child past 18, then you really shouldn't have children. As a person who brings someone into the world, you have to be prepared for the possibility that they may not be able to make it past 18 in today's economy. Most of today's jobs cannot support a comfortable middle-class independent lifestyle even if you've gone to college.

right. i don't are HOW they give back, they need to do something. cook dinner three knights a week. do the vacuuming. weed, garden, help with the laundry [at least do your own].
but mama did the bad thing by allowing this to happen. just because someone is a home maker, doesn't mean that all adults should sit on their ass while the home maker cooks and cleans and keeps the house. they all live there. they all should have done something.
i knew how to make coffee at 7 years old and i was loading the dishwasher at 5.
and srsly... people need to stop thinking Mcdonalds is a full time job! those jobs were made for high schoolers and college kids who needed part time work. it is NOT supposed to be a livable wage!

Mama says what folks are thinking, but afraid to verbalize, and it's greatly entertaining! Vint constantly blaming Mama when he was such a leech was the annoying character to me.

The only times Mama ever really annoyed me is when she would be so mean to ppl who were just doing their jobs. Like I thought she was unjustly hateful to the older man who was handling Fran's will. And, if I remember right, she was hateful to the meter reader, I mean I have a friend who is a meter reader and he tells me he encounters ppl like that all the time, who will curse him out, just for DOING HIS JOB.
In the syndicated years I did SO want to see someone put Mama in her place for ONCE! In the NBC episodes and on the Carol Burnett people would stand up to Mama and she would shut the hell up, I wanted to see this happen on the syndicated episodes at least once.
Don't get me wrong, I loved Mama, but, sometimes she went too far.

Yeah I agree about Vint and Naomi, she had the right to be upset with them b/c they took advantage of her a LOT....Like when Mama was going to work Naomi told her not to bother with the dishes on the night before her work day...and to get up and do them 1st thing in the morning, rather than Naomi simply offering to do the dishes.
What would sometimes annoy me about Mama is like when she had the cookies and refreshments all set out for Fran's POA then he started to get one and she slaps his hand and is like, "You've HAD ENOUGH DAMN COOKIES!!"
I guess that's what I'm saying, I hate it when she SNAPS at ppl unjustly, for just....BEING there.
Like when she was VERY RUDE to the nurse when Ellen was in the hospital. I mean Mama was being loud, obnoxious IN A HOSPITAL, and that nurse was just following protocol and asked her to leave, and Mama was like, "You can call the damn marines if you want, I ain't budging!" Very out of line....
Eunice was needed in a few of those episodes to put Mama in her place lol Eunice was one of the few ppl who DID seem to have some power over Mama.
