How come on METV the VISUAL FORMAT of it is changed?

Every time I've seen "Mama's Family" it's ALWAYS looked like it was a play, but since it's aired on MeTV, then the format of it looks like a regular tv series like "Dynasty," for instance.

Why did it visually change? It's honestly bizarre because it's NEVER looked like that before.

On the DVDs does it look the same as it does on MeTV, or are the episodes visually the same like they used to air them back in the 80's and on reruns today?

Me-TV stated that Warner (who distributes Mama's Family) converted the episodes to high definition. The result is really poor but there's nothing Me-TV can do about it. The DVDs have the episodes as originally videotaped.

Thanks, for the explanation! I just noticed the appearance was different on Thurs. night when I first saw the show on MeTV and couldn't understand why the appearance had changed. That makes perfect sense! I'm glad I asked.

Since my cable provider north of the border, don't carry MeTV, I'm interested to see what it looks like.
