They didn't show 2 episodes: the Christmas one and another.
shareIt was nice but not sure if I will want to go thru another run of it. I had been recording them and watching late night but been busy this week so just caught up from before the Mothers Day episode or so to back to the first episode I am definitely done for now.
I will probably take it off my DVR list
I've watched them all, too. I wonder why MeTV aired the one where Iola gets a new friend as the final episode before they went back to the pilot. Why was that out of order?
I'm not sure I agree with the conventional wisdom that says the syndicated episodes were better. It's true that they had no idea what to do with Sonya on NBC, and that Fran was unlikeable. However, I enjoy the comedy that comes from the family dynamics, the resentments and jealousies and competitiveness. NBC began in that tradition. The syndicated episodes are more about routine sitcom shenanigans--plots that were as old as I Love Lucy (not that I don't enjoy Lucy!).

I'm not saying there were no family dynamics in the humor of those early TV sitcoms. But there is a difference in what the Family sketches on Carol Burnett and MF on NBC did with family relationships. I mean, Lucy or the Beaver never mined humor from a character giving a three minute monologue about the pain of their childhood the way Eunice would.

NBC years are better. The family dynamic is much funnier with the extended family (Eunice, Ed, Ellen) around occasionally. Also, I like Naomi much better on NBC - she's a much better foil for Mama. The syndicated episodes just seem kind of low-budget.
shareThat's strange. The last one I saw before they aired the pilot again was the last episode. When Naomi had the baby
shareThe NBC years was so much better that it was cancelled after just a season and a half...
shareI agree. I like the feistiness of Mama and the family in the NBC episodes. The comedy is character driven, not plot driven as were so many shows of the time. Vicky never smiled, which I thought was a perfect trait of the character. The Mama character in the last season smiled too much and as was said, just Vicky in a wig.
On my MeTv, the episode when Iola gets a new friend, played before the pilot episode aired.
