Vint and Naomi's constant lack of money

Between them they had a pretty good income and Naomi got a raise after she became assistant manager of Food Circus. Yet they were constantly behind on their rent and Vint often asked Mama for a loan. What did they spend their money on? Aside from rent they did not contribute to household expenses.

Naomi's promotion to assistant manager came late in the show. That probably explains why they then had money to move out into a trailer.

We don't know how much money Vint earned as a locksmith. I mean, how much money do locksmiths make anyways?

At the low end of the scale, a locksmith will make around $34k/year. Average is in the 40s.
