'Mama Gets the Bird'

This is pretty cheesy to bring up, but after seeing this episode plenty of times in the past, I never noticed this scene, and it totally jumped out at me tonight.

The family realizes Petey's birdcage bequeathed by Uncle Oscar is worth $50,000, and Naomi shoots up from the couch, and says, "we've got to get it back!" It looked pretty obvious to me that Lyman was about to drop her top and grabs out it so it doesn't fall! It's one of those classic Naomi dresses, this one without side sleeves, and it was a'fallin' down!

She grabbed at it so blatantly and even was still tugging at the ruffles afterward. It looks like something that should have been reshot, but in a way, I get a kick out of the production value of this show. It makes a scene like that authentic because, let's be honest, Naomi probably had near-misses a lot in her day! I just can imagine Lyman got a bit of a heart-start because it was more than a little "almost-slip"!
