Betty White and Rue McClanahan Playing a Niece and Aunt??
I always found it odd that Betty White portrayed Mama's daughter and Rue McClanahan of the same age portrayed Mama's sister.

shareIn some rare instances a niece or nephew can be older than an aunt or uncle... I wonder if that was the case with Fran and Ellen? I'm thinking Mama was VERY young when she had Ellen, So I wonder if maybe Mama's mother had Fran AFTER Mama had Ellen? lol
shareIt isn't that rare in the south Bronx. srsly, I have 8 year olds who are aunts and uncles and then their mama has another kid...
But I think Fran was older than she looked. those curls looked like they were trying to make her look young. they looked like the felt terrible.
and they made ellen look young because she was rich and thus could afford to take much better outer care of herself than the rest of the family.
