Maybe like 13, lol? For her to have Ellen 1st she was obviously very young. Idk how old Ellen is in the series, it never says, but she must be at least like 53 or something. But, Ellen looks older than that, like in her 60's! Mama I believe is like 65 when the show started so that would mean she had Ellen around when she was 13, 14 or 15, and then like in her late teens had Vint and Eunice.

I have been watching the reruns on LOGO recently and wondered the same thing. Betty was already 60 or a bit older when the show premiered and they celebrate mama's 63rd birthday in season 2.
shareWell in the flashback episode to Mama's 30th b-day Ellen looked to be about 11 or 12, so I'd say Mama was like around 19 when she had Ellen, I THINK she did mention having Ellen YOUNG in one episode.
I always wanted to think Mama turned 60 in the birthday episode where she got the freezer b/c Vint says to her, "You've been talking about a freezer for 30 years!" putting that bday exactly 30 years since the flashback bday when she turned 30.
