is it just me or do the opening notes of the fraggle rock theme sound very similar to those in the talking heads song psycho killer.

No.

"Fraggle Rock" starts with a low, slow thumping, then a whoosh, then up-tempo.

"Psycho Killer" has a different rhythm.

After listening to them again, it is similar, but not exact. Its a simple opening, not surprising. I think I heard it elsewhere as well, but I can't recall

you bet your a$$ they're similar. at least the beginning is. it's not the same beat exactly, note for note, but it's pretty close. and the talking heads are awesome so i wouldn't be surprised if fraggle rock influenced them at all while writing the music to psycho killer. rock on!

WELL...
That's not very likely, because the show first aired in 1983, and Psycho Killer is a song from 1977. That means the Heads certainly weren't influenced by Fraggle Rock, and I don't suppose the theme for Fraggle Rock was influenced by the Heads. It's probably just coincidence.
