what kind of kids like fraggle rock?

I remember watching Fraggle Rock when i was a little one, i loved every minute of it.
My 2 year old niece on the other hand does not like it, she doesnt understand whats going on and gets very bored very quickly.
i don't think kids under the age of 3 or maybe 4 will enjoy this show very much, just for the fact that there is a storyline, too much talking, not enough goofing around, or singing. i think the little ones who watch this show have to be able to understand whats going on in order to enjoy this show.
The Wiggles on the other hand is exactly what the doctor ordered for my niece, since it has dancing, singing, animals and no real plot behind it, just straight out fun. any other opinions be on this matter?.

Awesome kids.

They sing all the time!!!!! How can you say not enough singing?

I think a three year old would "Get" it, but probably not a two year old. It really depends on the child.

there is allot of singing, i know, but its not constant and there are boring (for my niece)parts, like when they talk. for a little one, they need, straight out singing, dancing, constant goofing around, and learning of course, no plot, just straight out fun. this is more like the muppets in a way (same creator, jim henson). it does also depend on the child, or what the child has been exposed to. since the wiggles was one of the first kids show that my niece had seen, she likes bright and colorful things with animals and dancing. i think fraggle rock is too dark for her likings.

reply

That is too bad. It's not as dark as some of Henson's movies, like Dark Crystal, that movie is crazy scary.

Maybe when she's older?

reply

possibly.

Do they still show Fraggle Rock, then?

I loved it when I was a child, although I get what you mean about it being "dark". Although I can no longer remember much about the plots, I do get a vague sense of unease when I think back to certain aspects of it, mixed in with the good memories.

I don't think it's ever been repeated, here in the UK, since the 1980s. If it has, I haven't been aware of it. I don't know why. Is it still being shown wherever you are, or have you got it on video?

It was my favorite show when I was about 6, 7 and even 8 years old.
My seven and five year old daughters love it now. The two year old likes it too, though she doesn't "get" it, of course, she just likes the goofy characters and the songs.

I've just bought Season 1 on DVD for my sons today. No. 1 Son is 3 and a half, No. 2 Son is almost 1. No. 1 Son loves it but that was understandable as he also loves most Muppet things including The Muppet Show and Labyrinth. No. 2 Son obviously doesn't have the same attention span but watched for a good 5 minutes after the theme song which he bopped along to.

It's nice to find something so relatively innocent and fun for small people (and their parents who can pick out the not quite so innocent stuff).

I am not here to bash this show.. all evidence to the contrary... there's a point here .. :)

I hated this show with a bloody passion when I was 9 and it was on. The theme song still gives me fits. I used to miss movies that would be on after this show because I'd change the channel to avoid that credit music and forget about them. I used to think this show was the closest to hell that could be on earth... Eventually it went away.. and I have been happy to let it go...

Until yesterday....

My wife.. Who I love DEARLY!!.. found out that Fraggle Rock was on DVD and told me it's one of her favorite shows... she still remembers the songs word for word... And could I have liked it more? Could I get something that I missed before? HEEELLLL NO! I still want to get a shotgun and go fraggle hunting, It's THAT BAD.. and now I'm gonna be up to my ass in them...

I'm thinkin'.....divorce?

My name... is GEO!!!

You my sir are obviously a Gorg in disguise. I'm 18 and flipped when I saw Fraggle Rock Dvd's at Walmart for $5. Being 18 obviously means this show was before my time, but I remember catching reruns when I was little. In fact, I'm watching an episode as I type this.

DOWN IN FRAGGLE ROCK!!!

I bought Season 1 for myself (havn't got 2 or 3 yet)because I loved the show when I was growing up. My 5 year old and 7 year old both like the show. They were 3 and 5 when I got it and watched it all the time, my daughter (the youngest) would want to watch it every night right before bed. They haven't been watching it much lately but I think it's because they have watched it so much.

I used to watch it as a kid but I only relly remembered Cotterpin Doozer. Now I'm watching it again at age 14 and it's by far the best 'children's' series I've seen.

The Wiggles helps children grow up to be unfocused and braindead.

I'm a 29-year old and I still enjoy Fraggle Rock. I don't think it's mainly just for kids, but people of all ages. As for the Wiggles, well now THAT'S just for kids....
