The North American version was filmed in Toronto at the Canadian Broadcasting Company studios for the US and Canada TV markets. The French version was a chef living with his dog Croquette in a former bakery, which had previously belonged to an inventor so tools and contraptions were still present.
The German version was a tinkerer and his dog, quite similar to the Toronto set and scripts except in language.
The UK version was in the living quarters behind a lighthouse. The exterior for the lighthouse was shot in Cornwall. The Captain character was a retired sailor with his dog, then in later seasons the Captain was succeeded by his nephew P.K., then by B.J.
The show was also dubbed into a number of other languages but not also with the creation of separate leading-and-ending segments of their own.
