Calling all who watched it in 1983

Hi all, I loved watching Fraggle Rock when I was growing up and was hoping you could help me with the name of an animated series. I remember watching it on TV as a young child about 25 years ago. It was about a group of children who, I think, went through a video game or computer, into an alternate universe. One of the characters was a brooding and unpleasant boy who was almost a "bad guy". They wore medieval clothes and I think there were dragons or dinosaurs or knights. They had to fight bad scary guys anyway. If anyone can help me, thanks a lot.

Yes, it does sound like Dungeons and Dragons. The character "ERIC" was the one who was always complaining.

The only other show that I could possibly think it to be is Captain N the Game Master. He got sucked into his Tv while playing a Videogame and had a little attitude upon arriving and they did do an episode about a carnival and some characters had attitudes at given points on the show, Simon belmont from Castlevania had a mideval look.
There was also Kid Icarus and Megaman

You're thinking of D&D, but I thought you were talking about Fraggle Rock.

I was 4 when the show first aired, but I have vivid memories watching season 1 at my grandmother's house. She had HBO back in the 80s and me and my sisters always looked forward to watching Fraggle Rock whenever we went to visit.
