The good old days when the Big Three would show cartoons/kid shows.

ABC: Bugs Bunny/Tweety, Ghostbusters, Flintstone Kids

CBS: Garfield, Muppet Babies, Pee-Wee, Ninja Turtles

NBC: Chipmunks, Smurfs, Gummi Bears, ALF, Captain N

Yes, those were the days....thank god we grew up the time we did. Cartoons today are nothing but crap!

I loved my cartoons in the nineties! Most were eighties repeats, but they were still great! Alvin and the Chipmunks, Family Ness, Gummi Bears, Fireman Sam (old version!), Postman Pat (old version!), Smurfs, Moomins, Banana Man, Penny Crayon, Superted...they were the best shows ever and they've been taken off the TV and replaced with (no offense) rubbish like Jackie Chan, awful modern Batman, some show that seems to just be the Adams Family under a new name with weird hair and the (only slightly cartoon, but that counts!) absolutely terrible, throw-brick-at-TV-worthy Tracy Beaker.

David Tennant, Tom Ward, Jack Davenport, Ewan McGregor, Dominic Cooper. The only men for me.

Well I was born in 1989 but here's what I remember.

Gummi Bears, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Garfield & Friends, Charlie Brown, Goof Troop, Ducktales, Beetlejuice, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, Tiny Toons, Anamaniacs, Freakazoid, Batman (from the 90's), The Addams Family, Muppet Babies, Grandpa Beaver's Story Time, Kablaam, Thundercats, Reboot, Skeleton Warriors, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (original), Beethoven, Cartoon Planet...just can't figure it, back then we had it all, today we have nothing on TV that's any good.

Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, G.I. Joe, and anyone remember C.O.P.S.? Yeah, I'd give anything to relive the golden age of cartoons. There's a channel called Boomerang that shows a bunch of old school cartoons such as the Smurfs and Snorks, but for the life of me I wish they would show Alvin and the Chipmunks!

I'd say that 1994 was the last year for good cartoon. Back in 1995, that's when the big 3 (CBS, ABC, NBC) started to cut bacxk on A LOT of Saturday morning cartoons. It's painful, I was flipping through the channels around 10 AM, the NEWS was on. The NEWS WAS ON at 10 AM. That really hit me, because cartoons are only suppose to be on until 1 PM. Did you also know that Cap'n Crunch won't be on commercials anymore? They say that cartoon themed food commercials will want to make kids eat unhealthy foods, and be fat. That makes me want to cry.

reply

What? Are you serious? They're blaming the Captain for kids' lousy eating patterns?! How about the parents? All of the popular cereals I always wanted might've had cartoon spokescharacters, and boy did I want them, but that didn't mean my parents would run out and GET them for me! Sure, if it were up to me I'd've had Cookie Crisp every morning, noon & night. I wasn' tthe one with the money though. Parents just need to lay down the law. Sheesh. Remember the old Cookie Crisp character? The jail dog? I miss him...

Anyway, cartoons...yeah, I agree, they were good up until the mid-90s. Gargoyles was the last good (new) cartoon I remember. Well, I do enjoy some Fairly Odd Parents & Jimmy Neutron. When did they start? They're not the same quality as those from the 80s & early 90s, but they're the best of this latest batch of things. One of the few non-anime rejects.

Now, when it comes to "adult" cartoons...I am a fan of Family Guy :)
