Was Radar in this show?

I saw in somebody's review that Radar was in this show, including Potter, Klinger, and Mulcahy. In the imdb credits I don't see Radar's name. What's going on?

reply

I believe that he guested on the show in the second season. I haven't seen it since 1984. I believe that Colonel Flagg was also in it and there were plans to get Alan Alda in it too. Please correct if I am wrong.

reply

I don't know, but I don't think he was in it.
He had his own spin-of: *W*A*L*T*E*R*.
It was about Walter "Radar" O'Reilly after the war.
So I think he was bussy.
Maybe he had a guest appearence on one of the episodes.

RADAR was in a 2 parter in which he got married. This epsiode was spun-off into a pilot that was NOT picked up. W*A*L*T*E*R was about RADAR's new bride leaving him. He then moved to the "big city" & became a cop. It also starred pre-SNL Victoria Jackson.

reply

A 2-parter?

I'm not so sure about that!!! Unless there was one after the wedding, but that wedding was in Col. Potter's house, officiated by Fr. Mulcahy, and all the other former M*A*S*H castmembers in attendance!

If anyone remembers the episode where they see the guy in the bar whose name is Boyer "like Charles, the actor", "yeah, only he doesn't pronounce it right", that's also the one - where Radar's fiancée slaps him in the face!

...is there another one after that with Radar in it?!? All I have is a few episodes on video, about 8 of them total...

Signed: A Big M*A*S*H fan who probably watched all 11 seasons at least 40 times each!

reply

On the show to his Iowa sweetheart.

One guest shot. Same for Col. Flagg.

reply

Check out GARY's entry in IMDB.

He was in TWO episodes- "It Had to Be You" & "Yours Truly, Max Klinger"

These led to his pilot episode for W*A*L*T*E*R.

reply

Anyone know if W*A*L*T*E*R will be on the After MASH DVD?

I think he only made a guest appearance in one episode.
They did try to make a spin-off with just Radar (I seem to recall Victoria Jackson was his girlfriend) but obviously it didn't sell.

reply

I believe he did a cameo in one episode, and was a full-fledged guest star in a second episode (the one about his wedding). If I remember right, the cameo was a "tease" for the wedding episode.

reply

Why couldn't they use the actress from "Good-bye, Radar?-" his "real" girlfriend.

reply

I seem to recall a scene where Radar runs into Col. Potter's kitchen to hide from his bride after getting cold feet.

reply

I have both seasons, and yes he was in 01x15-Yours Truly, Max Klinger and 01x16-It Had to Be You

reply

i watched W*A*L*T*E*R on youtube and it was pretty bad.
i mean , radar was a very popular character on MASH and that show basically reduced him to this silly policeman with really bad dialog and police academy type situations... its only other connection to mash was an interview done with RADAR at the beginning of the show about his experiences in Korea and radar showing his buddy pics of hawkeye and hotlips in his wallet.

reply

Radar was in only a couple of episodes.

What was interesting is that they didnt' want him on this show because they did a spin off to another show called WALTER.

Radar lost his farm in Iowa and moved to St. Louis to be a cop. They did the pilot (I saw it and it was just ok) and it was received very poorly so the series wasn't picked up by anyone.
