Continuous plot issues

I just watched 2 episodes, the one where they thwart a plane hijacking and the one where guys posing as CIA agents kidnap Murdock to steal a helicopter, for the first time in well over 15 years and few things stuck out that I hadn't really paid attention to. I know the writers intentionally pushed the boundaries of realism, but they're plot issues nonetheless.

BA stands outs in all that gold and, in at least the Murdock abduction episode, wearing all-camouflage clothing. Los Angeles is probably the only place he'd blend in enough not to be recognized from a wanted poster or something. For being fugitives they frequently use their real names. In the Murdock abduction episode Hannibal goes to Rio under his own name. Not John, but Hannibal. In modern shows about cloak-and-dagger criminals and fugitives, they use various identities, rent & own vehicles & properties under one or more of their assumed identities. Perhaps the lower level & sophistication of communication and technology of the '80s as opposed to today is why the authorities wouldn't have caught them.

The other thing I'm curious about is their finances. In the hijacking episode they get $50,000 which Face explained dwindled down to about $256 after putting half into their retirement fund(s), a third into taxes (which BA questioned), insurance, medical expenses, etc. I don't know how or why they'd pay taxes unless it was through a legitimate retirement fund such as an IRA and/or cover identities involving banking. What would they have insurance on? BA's van and Face's Corvette? Medical insurance under cover identities?

C'mon, the bit about taxes, insurance, etc. was funny.

It was all done tongue in cheek with no attempt at any reality.

Face's scams were ridiculous, the army were clueless idiots, same as the army hospital, things just blow up for no reason...

As regards the names, James Bond (even now in the so-called more realistic modern ones) is a secret agent who goes around the world telling everyone his real name!

The A Team is just mindless fun.

Which I love.

Yeah i noticed these and many more too. I just watch the show to be entertained by the characters.

In each episode a vehicles is made to land on its roof, someone jumps on someone else dramatically, someone is thrown against something usually upside down, many many bullets miss at point blank range, someone shelters from bullets behind something that wouldn't stop them, Hannibal wears a disguise and smokes a cigar, BA gets mad with Murdoch, BA welds something, Face notices the women and tests his charm and when a business is involved someone wants to buy it against the owners wishes but the end the plan comes together.

Great show :)

I read somewhere that they put aside their taxes so when they were cleared they wouldn't turn around and be arrested for tax evasion.

I don't think the A-Team really went in for gritty realism somehow.

All I know is it was the 80's. It was fun, light-hearted, and everyone hot along. And compared to the crap that's on tv nowadays, I'd take the ATeam any day!

It's still an enjoyable watch.

It is an enjoyable show that had some great actors. I think the plot issues or any continuity issues are typical for most T.V. shows though.

Not to the extent the A-Team was. I mean, they couldn't even run or throw a punch it seems without obvious stunt doubles. That in and of itself is super annoying.
