Mexican Slayride;

So strange to see the gang without the van? No offence to Tim Dunnigan but you really think 'Where's Dirk?'.

Boy you forgot how lovely Melinda is!

reply

Dirk was way better as face.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

I think that Tim Dunigan tried to do what he could with the role. He was too young for the part and was not as charismatic as Dirk Benedict.

In terms of Mexican Slayride: I love when the team lands in Mexico. The hilarious reaction of the air traffic director at the airport (along with the team falling into their role playing selves) was quite endearing. You could tell right away that this show was going to be something special.

reply

Also Dunigan is maybe too tall, BA is supposed to be the most physically impressive but they all look tiny compared to him. 2nd part of Slayride was okay, interesting they lose their first fight and gunbattle but it does all look kinda cheap.

reply

Dirk was born to play Faceman.

reply

Just watched ep2, not too great although it was nice to see John Saxon and BA's little speech to a panicking Amy was interesting.

No one messes with Hannibal's boots.

reply

Very true.

In this episode it was funny to see the guys speculate what might be under those cult followers' robes. Half slips anyone?

reply

I like when Hannibal and Face make a joke and get the butt of the rifle in their gut for their troubles, then when BA says pantyhose, I think it was, and they go and hit him with the rifle in gut, it doesn't even faze him.

reply

Fun idea! Each episode has their own little gems but some are definitely superior to others. It's Farce in the pilot and Face for the rest of the show's run. Dirk Benedict fan here!

reply

Dirk Benedict as Face is superb.

reply

Really wish they'd let him be in the pilot!

reply

He wasn't cast yet. It's not like they refused to let him in the pilot. Lol.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Didn't the producers want Benedict as Face before the pilot started taping but the president or PTB at NBC didn't want him on the show? I heard that somewhere many years ago.

reply

Stephen Cannell and Frank Lupo want Dirk Benedict as Face, but NBC went over their heads and hired Tim Dunigan and realize their mistake. Dwight thought he will be fire from the show and he didn't get fire, Tim got fire instead and they hire Dirk.

reply

Best move They ever made.

reply

I think maybe at first Murdock was not going to apart of the regular cast. I wonder if there was a gap between shooting the pilot episode and the first episode Dirk starred in....

reply

Yeah. A year, I think.

Movie Theater: Young Frankenstein 10/10. RIP Gene Wilder. One of the funniest people of all time.

reply

Really, a year? Never heard that before. It's true that the part was actually supposed to go to Dirk Benedict but the network didn't want him, hence we got Farce for the pilot. Cannell should have fought harder for Benedict, especially since he ended up in the roll anyway. Oh well. Gives us something to complain about!

reply

Maybe not a full calender year, but like '82-'83, 4, 5, months whatever.
