record store scene question.

Does anyone know which part of Los Angeles the record store is located in that Scott Baio's and Felice Schecter's characters shop in before Willie Ames' talks Scott Baio into going with him to use his telekinetic powers when he gambles at the frat house?

It looks like it's in some part of the San Fernando Valley.

yeah I was wondering too, you see all the cool soundtracks in the backround.. roadie, Saturday night fever and the cars candy o album..I bet its long gone by now..

Man, when I saw that somebody responded to this post, I was hoping someone out there knew the location. Oh well. But yeah, in addition to those records you mentioned like The Cars, and Saturday Night Fever, I also remember seeing a Robbie Dupree album cover showcased in the record shop. He sang that song "Steal Away." I also thought the store in the film looked a lot like a record store that used to be in Southern California from the 70's to the 90's called Music Plus.

It was a relatively low-budget movie filmed in LA. They shot at Magic Mountain and Marshall HS. So I would say the odds are the record store isn't too far away from the general area, and there aren't too many areas in LA where the addresses go up to 17965, which was the address of the record store. I would guess it's 17965 Ventura Blvd. In the movie you can see funky little shops across the street, and those types of stores are still there.

The interior looks like a chain record store, so it could have been Music Plus, Tower, Wherehouse Music, Licorice Pizza, Musicland. All now defunct.

The Robbie Dupree poster in the backround was for his 1981 album "Street Corner Heros" It had 1 short lived single around June of 1981, so iam taking this scene was lensed sometime around spring summer 81..

The shop is/was called 'Big Bens'. The name is printed on the door handles outside.

It was shot at Big Ben's Records located at 17965 Ventura Blvd. in Encino. It is now a BevMo, but the liquor store seen in the background is still there.
