Book version of Garp and HBO's Six Feet Under
this is a major spoiler to both World According to Garp and Six Feet Under. So if you haven't finished reading Garp and watching the series finale of Six Feet Under....then I wouldn't recommend reading on.
At the end of Garp, the book goes through all the deaths of the characters that were a part of Garp's life. I remembering crying my eyes out throughout the last part of the book... basically when Garp died was when the tearfest commenced.
I was really into Six Feet Under... watched every episode. When I heard the show was ending it saddened me. During the last episode I was worried the show was going to have a mediocre ending. But, right as Claire is driving away.. the music changes., and suddenly its a year later and then time starts flying fast... showing the deaths, weddings and funerals of the main characters. It happens during the duration of Sia's Breath Me. So its all visually happening. I was so overwhelmed that I cried for a good 20mins after the show ended.
After I calmed down I realized that this ending was similar to Garps... and it amazed me to see that a complete ending is possible in books, movies and tv shows... but it has to be done right.
Here is a clip of the last 6mins of the show.
