Amanda Plummer does rock and makes for one great zany crazy psycho but, to be fair, she doesn't play a zany crazy psycho in "Garp". Ellen James is just a normal woman who had something horrible done to her, and appreciates Garp trying to save others from the same fate.
I too adore Amanda Plummer and I did like seeing her in a NON PSYCHO role. She is an amazing actress! :) Ellen James was a normal and sympathetic role for her, albeit brief, it was REALLY memorable. I'm old enough to have seen this film on it's first run in the movie theater and I remember even now how it affected me. :)
