Despite the late time (8:30 - 10pm), there were quite a few parents bringing their children; also (from a few people I talked with) several teens coming to see it for the first time, along with people from my cohort who had seen it as a kid.

Staff handed out glow-necklaces at the doors, which was a nice touch. The concessions stand was also selling candy-colored martinis named after characters, although they did it by alliteration and not by color in the film (yellow = Yori, red = Ram, blue = Clu) -- but I guess only a dork like me gets annoyed at something like that.

When Ram said "Oh my User!" while dying in the recognizer, the audience laughed at the phrase -- poor Ram! The biggest laugh was probably at Flynn in red-solider gear trying to trail Sark, peeking out from behind a wall.

I saw it with a friend who pronounced it, "The cheesiest movie I've ever seen, by a mile." But I don't mind his cynical comment -- it was all great fun.

I would have been annoyed too.

I would have been mad about that.

I'm fine with that. It was meant to be theatrical and over the top. It reminded me of when he was "sneaking" with Laura near the beginning of the film.

I would have popped in him the shoulder. I do have issues with cynical comments like that. My friends all know it too. LOL

-- it was all great fun.

Sounds like it! Lucky devil you! I wish I could have gone.
I'll ask my local art house theater.

The martinis -- much as I wish they'd gone by circuit-color, I guess nobody wants to drink a Sark martini. ;) Still, it really annoyed me. Someone savvy to the movie could have backronymed "MCP" to be "martini something something" and made that the red one.

I can't fault the audience too much for laughing at "Oh my User" -- I hear it all the time in fandom, but I guess it sounds pretty silly if you're not already drawn into the 'verse. I knew Ram was about to die, but others didn't necessarily -- I guess in lots of Disney movies, the character who gets a drawn-out death scene bounces right back into action after the drama has been milked.
