Tron..ahead of its time.

You have Dillinger typing on the glass keyboard, just like the smartphones today. 25+ years before its actually done. lol

Not only that, but the whole concept of video gaming itself was way ahead of its time. Look at the 3D version of Space Paranoids in the arcade; there was nothing like it at the time. Plus, the only experience kids had with video games was in an arcade. In 1982, very few families had game consoles at home -- and those who did usually had 4-color blocky graphics. The idea of being "sucked into a game" seemed laughable back then, but now how many people (through their avatars) are sucked into Halo or Second Life or World of Warcraft?

Chaos. Good news.

Tron may in fact, be the ancestor of The Matrix series.

Way ahead of its time. In many ways, Tron is still ahead of the present time. If the movie had been made today, it would still be ahead of its time.

Totally agree. That's part of the reason why it was really appreciated then but now has a strong cult following that has now powered a franchise that I believe will endure.

I watched the movie for the first time last night in almost 30 years. I was completely expecting the special effects to be dated, and for the most part they were. But I was completely amazed at the smart table that Dillinger was working with. It looked almost identical to the technology that's being used today! Of course the readouts were straight from the 80s, but the concept was very similar right down to the keyboard that you would see on a tablet.

Can you say..."Microsoft Surface". It only took 20 years for Microsoft to catch up with TRON.
