Different color programs

What are all the different color programs for?

So far i've got

Blue: Against the MCP
Red: MCP controlled
Purple robed: Unknown, possibly some kind of religious order
Blue robed. glowing: Religious order
Yellow: Inoperative data pusher or Entertainment
Bright blue: Inoperative data pusher
Pink: Unknown
Green: "Wild" programs
Orange: Outdated program

There were two female programs, one yellow and one red, who saw flynn after he crashed the recognizer. They don't seem to fit into the above classifications.

In the original Tron, the color scheme is a bit muddled. Notice in the opening scene, Sark is red but hie's in a blue cycle. His opponent is blue but in an orange cycle. But overall they generally stuck with cool colors for "good" and warm colors for "evil." Legacy followed that color coding much more strictly.

"Inoperative data pushers." That's what Yori calls them. I assume they're sort of rogue or deactivated programs, so their colors don't necessarily conform to anything. I think in the original movie color was used everywhere mainly for visual impact, not necessarily to make any sense.

Chaos. Good news.

When they first started making Tron they were going to have the good guys be red and the bad guys be blue. They changed that around after they had already started filming which is why Clu ends up orange and the tank soldiers are green.

Despite all that they could still be put into plausible categories, like what you did. You could say Clu was orange because he was in disguise infiltrating enemy territory. Tank guys are green just because they are. Foot soldiers are red. Et cetera.

I don't mind that the red guys get blue cycles and the blue guys get red/orange/yellow cycles. It makes them easier to see. If they were in a cycle the same color as their suit they would blend and blur.

I figured there was a rank to the color. Red was leadership, blue was masses. Aw I don't know, it doesn't matter.
