How did Flynn get back to his own world?

We know that Flynn got transported to the digital world because the MCP brought him there. And in Tron Legacy, he uses that machine to transport himself there, and gets back home by going to the portal.
But, after he throws himself into the MCP and Tron derezzes him, we see Flynn going back up as the MCP is erased, and then he is gone. Just a couple of minutes later we see him leaving the digital world, and he reappears back in the real world. Now my question is, what exactly did he do that first time to get back home?
My best guess would be that it was the MCP that brought him to the digital world, so once the MCP is erased, his act of bringing Flynn to his own world is undone, and so Flynn gets to go home.

The same way the orange earlier in the movie got back to the real world.

Won't that be grand? Computers and the programs will start thinking and the people will stop

reply

True, but there were people at the controls at the time when the orange disappears and reappears. When Flynn gets teleported back home, he's all alone in the room.
Something else that could have happened.... the machine was set on automatic, so it sends something to the digital world, and then brings it right back. The machine was being controlled by the MCP when it brought Flynn down. Once the MCP was destroyed, the machine was no longer under the MCP's control, went back to automatic, and brought Flynn back to the real world.

It's like the MCP was the portal in TRON Legacy

reply

A wizard did it.

Voluptatis avidus,
Magis quam salutis,
Mortuus in anima,
Curam gero cutis.

reply

Buckaroo Banzai showed up with his oscillation overthruster and helped him get home.
