The guy catches his wife cheating on him, goes crazy, and, after he escapes the asylum, has a talk with himself at a campfire where he talks himself into cutting his own tongue out?
okay. I'm a madonna fan, but that exchange was funny.
So MY question is, by any chance, does the escaped father in this movie at some point steal and drive around in an ice cream truck that plays a creepy jingle? I remember the parts with the so fricking bratty kid, but that's all I remember--me and my brother saw a movie on VHS in the 80s that had the whole ice cream truck part I just described, but I have not been able to figure out what movie that was for decades!!!!

The film with the ice cream truck would be the Australian film Snapshot AKA The Day After Halloween, which was mismarkted as a sequel to Carpenter's film due to the title.
