3-D Remaster Update!

Okay guys, about a year ago I posted on this forum about doing a remaster project of this film in 3-D. Unfortunately, I had a major hard drive meltdown which resulted in me loosing my Anaglyph print of the film which took over 14 hours to render from the field sequential master. Before this happened, however, I exported a short Anaglyph test (just the first ten minutes of the film) to a DVD so that I could test it out. The results were not good. CRT (standard tube) televisions just do not have the colour separation to support Anaglyph 3-D properly.

But then...

After purchasing a new LCD TV set, I decided to try out my old DVD of "Comin' At Ya". YES! The results are much much better. It seems that LCD TV's and TFT (flat screen) PC Monitors have the required colour separation and contrast to support Anaglyph 3-D.

So, I am currently re-rendering an Anaglyph print of the film (I have also salvaged some extra quality from the field sequential master in a lengthy remaster process). The idea that Anaglyph works better on PC monitors and LCD screens has led me to consider putting the movie up on a DivX streaming site like Stage6 rather than doing a full DVD. That way people can watch it for free.

I've done a bit of poking around and I don't think the copyright on the movie has ever been renewed.

Any suggestions welcome. If you want to subscribe to my 3-D Remaster newsletter, email me at [email protected] (delorean102 [AT] gmail [DOT] com). I have some more 3-D projects in the pipeline - Creature From The Black Lagoon and House of Wax.

Global Warming is just a load of hot air!

Don't bother, Tony Anthony has just finished converting COMIN' AT YA!'s "over and under" format to "digital 3-D".

And he intends to release it to theatres.

Hello mazaldivar,

Do you know if Tony Anthony has any plans to covert TREASURE OF THE FOUR CROWNS into digital 3-D? It looks like MGM still owns the rights to it but they seem to have no interest in this movie, there has been so many movies released on DVD that are FAR worse than TOTFC yet MGM refuses to release it for some reason and my VHS copy is starting to wear thin :(

Let's be patient.
Tony is putting forth all of his effort right now into COMIN' AT YA's re-release.

Just hang around.
