Best murder scenes I've ever seen. (spoilers)

I'm going to have to say this movie holds the trophy in my heart and head for the best murder scenes I've ever had the pleasure of veiwing. Every murder is soooo brutal, bloody, quick, and shocking. I love it so much.
My favorite by far is when the beautiful girl is sitting at the kitchen table then all of a sudden the axe comes through the window taking her arm. Blood sprays as if it were spraying from THREE slit throats painting the walls in her beautiful macabre. She screams wide-eyed in mock terror. This is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen.
Also, I love how the movie ends with Dario Argento's wife simply screaming into the camera, in a doorway, in the rain...for a few minutes.
SCREAMING...SCREAMING...SCREAMING...credits...still screaming.
GENIUS.

SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS (for other argento movies)

yeah i thought that murder scene u're referring to was the best one...and was perfectly done...ending with the screaming really worked as well....i'm not sure though if it has the best or scariest murder/death scenes aside from that one.....as far as dario argento movies go....there are a lot more murder scenes i think in tenebre than say suspiria and terror at the opera....but i think the opening murder scene in suspiria works better with the suspense...and is a brilliant opening to a horror movie...and i found terror at the opera was also scarier and more imaginative with the nails on her eyelids and making her watch....again more suspense in that one...i loved the scene the reviwer refers to which had that argento suspense/buildup which i so love....with the music playing and the camera moving around outside the house for ages....it just goes on longer and longer and the longer it goes the more u love it! and it also made me think that it was the girl upstairs who was the one that was gonna get killed first or only her...i felt that was deliberately done to make us think that... it's why i watch argento movies...cos i'm always looking for those moments...masterful...creative....genius is a good word...those touches of an artist...and they just make u admire the talent of this man..and view him as such a MASTER of horror.

u're right about the murder scenes in tenebre being more brutal and quick...so i guess it's a different style in this one...i thought though that when the female inspector walks in and gets axed.that that was TOO quick...it just happened out of nowhere and even though i watched the dutch uncut version it felt like something had been cut...cos it was so quick...

well this is the third argento movie i've bought on dvd....first was suspiria...which i loved...but found the ending in today's times a little weak with the "effects"...and thought that it ended too fast....then i watched terror at the opera which i enjoyed more than suspiria...and i can't think of any criticism of it...and now tenebre...again i enjoyed it but it didn't scare me as much as suspiria or opera....however in the back of my mind i'm thinking that if i'd seen any of this movies "first"...i would have fallen in love with argento's style....but opera for me is stronger cos it wasn't my first taste of argento and yet it didn't fall below suspiria which a lot of people say is his best work....i've also read that tenebre is underrated and possibly his best...but maybe so..but i'm glad i own it...i'm glad i bought it...and i'm glad i watched it....and i wanna see every movie by argento...cos i know that there'll be more of those special "moments"...pieces of genius in each of em..which justify watching em and buying em...that's how i feel....

anyone got any suggestion which argento dvd i should buy next? as number 4? any recommendations for which region/dvd version i should go for would be appreciated as well..or any warnings about a cut version or any other drawback which i should avoid..

GIBSKI:

Check out PHENOMENA and DEEP RED. They are both great Argento films and PHENOMENA is probably my favorite (even though I love SUSPIRIA and TENEBRE and enjoy OPERA). I'm not sure which region is the best for DEEP RED but for PHENOMENA I know the region 1 Anchor Bay disc has Argento's real cut of the film. Make sure you don't get the "CREEPERS" version -it's terrible! Both of those movies have some pretty violent scenes and PHENOMENA is along the same lines of supernatural horror as SUSPIRIA. One of his newest films, SLEEPLESS (NON HO SONNO) is pretty good too. Make sure you get the U.K. disc of that though, as the US region 1 disc by Artisan is awful.

I have two versions of Deep Red, one being the cut US/UK version titled Deep Red and the other being a region 2 release under its true name "Profondo Rosso". The Platinum Media Corporation disc (the Region 2 "Profondo Rosso") is a good twenty odd minutes longer than Deep Red (not all gore, mostly plot development and character building stuff) and realy benefits from it. The only downside of this version is that its all dubbed in Italian with English subs, so David Hemmings' wonderfully charasmatic voice is lost, it also has no extras whatsoever! But if you wanna see the movie the way Dario intended it to be seen you certainly want any version under the Profondo Rosso name and NOT the Deep Red version.

PS Profondo Rosso's soundtrack is possibly the best in an Argento film, so if you dig his music its worth seeing just for that!

get DEEP RED (Profondo Rosso) next.
It's way older then the rest of them...
But its *beep* classic.
Definately the next best after those 3.
Be prepared though...i didnt like it the first time i watched it.
Cuz its so different. But now i love it, after a few viewings.

After DEEP RED...you should pick up DEMONS...
just for a good time.
its not a straight up ARGENTO directed film...but he played a major role in it.
It's alot of fun...be sure to pick it up.
The killer from OPERA is one of the main characters in it too.

It's cool to hear from someone who's favorite is OPERA.
Me, I agree with most, Suspiria is king for me.
It's one of my favorite movies of all time.
No movie has ever had me wondering what the *beep* is going on, what the hell is going to happen, and creeped me out SOOOOO much.

My favorite scene is right after the axe takes that girl's hand off and she stands up and sprays the blood acroos the wall. Dario sure does seem to like the blood-red against bright white color contrast. I also really liked the girl screaming into the credits starting and then over the music. It seemed to end the movie much nicer than Dario's usual abrupt ending with the end music all of the sudden.

Did you see that 2004 French movie "Haute Tension"? I thought that the killing sequences in that were very well done, and they reminded me of Argento's style.

The axe in the head and the axe to the arm are the two best in the film by far. Especially the arm incident. Painting the wall with blood looked absolutely beautiful.

Just about the POTO chandelier massacre...Think of seeing 15 other phantom movies all with a chandelier crash...but not one of them has gore...then think of your favorite part of a phantom film is the crash, and seeing alll the blood and glory of the Argento crash...Awkward! But that scene was great!

Opera peephole death was pure genius.
Tenebrea axed arm...she also gets hacked a bit too, no?
