As a loyal fan of Peter Cushing and Sean Connery I just watched the film and I'm astonished how good it is. I mean if someone thinks that the story is ridiculous, he should watch "The Lord Of The Ring" movies and they have been a great success. SWORD OF THE VALIANT is one of the best films about medieval myths.

No one's really complaining too much about credibility of the story, just the fact that it was cobbled to together from more than one myth. The mish-mash story is the final straw for a film that had no direction and/or budget to begin with.
I think it's a travesty because I've seen better.

It's an easy film to make fun of to be sure, especially by today's sensibilities, but I like it anyway or perhaps because of that. Funny seeing Sean Connery in his worst fashion catastrophe since Zardoz, though that film had much deeper meaning when you delved into it...this one is far more pretentious...but that's ok by be. This film falls into the same love it or hate it melodramatic category as Excalibur, though the later is somewhat more straight forward. All of the above mentioned have that what were they smoking quality, and that too is ok by me especially when I'm smoking something.
