James Mangold (director of Girl, Interrupted, Logan, Ford v Ferrari and the upcoming Indiana Jones film) is in talks to direct.

Why not get James Wan (who did the friggin Conjuring movies and Insidious) to direct it?!?!?

Agreed. He'd have been a great fit for this project. I don't think Mangold has ever done horror.

Well, I can see a lot of Mangold projects get stuck in development hell now that Indiana Jones 5 is getting mediocre reviews.

It's a shame they cancelled the acclaimed 2019 TV series after one season. It is excellent and deserved to be renewed.
