Captain Kirk was only doing his duty


When Chekov said that, should Khan have understood at that point that it wasn't personal. Kirk did what he had to do to save his crew. Khan would have done the same if the shoe was on the other foot. Clearly Chekov had no control over the matter and didn't deserve to suffer at that point.

Imagine if khan had stopped , 'oh my god, you are right Mr chekov, you can go, but tell kirk we are suffering and to send us help,'

That course of action may have been more successful for Khan's goals.
