The website Horrorwiew (check external reviews) places the gore-gauge and nudity-gauge "off the charts", among other films like Cannibal Holocaust, Ichi The Killer and Men Behind The Sun
Is it really THAT gory? I kinda doubt because the site also says the same about Audition, wich is not so gory, only some gore in the end.
Just saw it, and though it has some well done gory scenes, I wouldnt call it "Off The Charts". I would have placed it somewhere between "Medium" and "High". A movie has to be gory and N-A-S-T-Y as a motherf---er to gain the "Off The Charts"-status.

Whoa, i had no idea the hooker had her vagina sliced! How did you learn about this? And i totally agree with you about the rubbery gore making this film all the more repulsive... the actor hacking up rubber props actually reflects the killer's view of women as objects, in an off-center way. You're reading into this stuff the same way i do.
Nope, i wouldn't say the gore is off the charts, but the violence sure as heck is. In fact, i think Ichi The Killer can't compare with the savagery of The New York Ripper. I feel the same way about Audition - the gore isn't off the charts, but the fear and repulsion it inspires definitely is.
