Ok thanks.Im hoping to get a copy of the movie soon cos i want to hear the voice!

Trust me, it won't scare you. The quacking is lame, it's reminiscent of Donald Duck. I was expecting it to be more morbid and sadistic .. NOPE.

Also, the killer's speaking voice sounds like he's imitating a child .. High pitch and 100% NOT SCARY at all. I had high expectation of the signature "quacker" but I was really let down. The movie itself is still cool, though.

It was probably used to help lighten the mood a little. It was also probably a referance to his earlier duck related film

This was because Fulci was a big fan of Disney and in particular Donald Duck (hence the original title of "Don't Torture a Duckling" being "Don't Torture Donald Duck"). For some reason, I think ol' Walt might be a little pissed to be referenced in this movie! Not exactly his style...

It's also to taunt the cops (you know exactly who's on the other end of the phone...) and (as someone earlier mentioned) how the "killer" talks to his daugther... if he really was the killer... could be the professor...

The sick daughter's favorite book was a children's book about a duck. There's a scene where you see the nurse reading it to her.

Just watched it, at the end it is explaned: he was talking like (Donald) duck to his daughter on the phone, in some way that personality toke posession of him and did the killings. At least that's what the proffesor is saying (well, actually, now i'm thinking about it, don't think he is very reliable either, playing check with himself, lol).
But it might be, just like in Psycho where the personality of the dead mother had taken posession of the son
