Why was Jack Hedley's Voice Dubbed.

Why was Jack's very English voice dubbed by an American
This fine British Actor has a great voice yet when my wife and I sat down to watch it, we just looked at each other and couldn't see why his voice was changed.

Incidentally the version we have is a 95 minute version.
The box has foreign language on it but the film is in English with some pretty ropey dubbing.

The murders are extremely gory especially the prostitute who gets her nipple and eyeball slit with a razerblade. Very nasty.

Hedley in this film is dubbed by Ed Mannix if I'm not mistaken... who also dubbed professor Monroe in CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, and Bud Spencer in several films.

Aaaaah, dubbing! It's amusing to hear the same crowd of re-arranged voice actors in these movies, heh...

In a lot of Italian horror they would also shoot the scenes with no sound. Argento did that a lot.

That's another reason for the dubbing adding to the reasons already given by someone else. Therefore when shot with no sound and dubbed later the actor may not want to or may be too busy to do the VO.
